Business or organization consultants offered their services in exchange for small fees when such training became more individualized.

The next period, namely from the year of 1980 up until 1994, witnesses the rapid evolution of leadership consulting and coaching. What ought to be stated is that many other areas of service emerged, including career coaching, management coaching, outplacement, life coaching and so on and so forth. Leaders started to get more influence, more responsibilities had to be delegated, more people had to be employed and, therefore coaching became highly needed.

From 1995 to the present, the amount of executive and workforce coaching has continued to grow. However, because the field is wide open to anyone who wants to enter, it is difficult to know the exact number of people performing coaching services.
